Joshua Cohen, the English department’s MFA visiting writer for the semester, read his work April 25 in Alderson Auditorium of the Kansas Union. Cohen is teaching two graduate MFA courses this spring. He has received wide acclaim for his most recent novel, “Witz,” and has been awarded the 2011 Baltic Writing Residency in Riga, Latvia.

Paul Mirecki, associate professor of religious studies, presented the talk “The King James Bible 1611-2011: Problems and Prospects” as part of the series “The King James Bible Lectures” April 19 at Baker University, in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible.

Marta Caminero-Santangelo, professor and chair of the English department, presented “Undocumented Testimony: Life Writing and the Narration of Unbelonging,” April 7-10 at the Multi-ethnic Literature of the U.S. Conference in Boca Raton, Fla.

James Juola, professor of psychology at KU and professor of human technology interaction at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, presented the keynote address, “Human-robot Interaction: Initial Contact and Communication with Aliens,” at the annual Spring School meeting of the three technical universities in the Netherlands.
