Olli Valanne

Olli Valanne, 82, died March 2 in Lawrence. Born in Helsnki, Finland, Valanne was an artist and professor from 1974 until he retired. Survivors include one daughter. Memorials are suggested to be made to National Public Radio or the Humane Society.

Kimber Ray Coffelt

Kimber Ray Coffelt, 56, died March 4. He worked for 20 years as a storekeeper at Ekdahl Dining Commons. The family suggests that donations may be made in his name to Bert Nash Mental Health Center.

Jim Seaver

Jim Seaver, 92, died March 14. Seaver taught western civilization and ancient history for more than four decades. He also hosted “Opera Is My Hobby” on Kansas Public Radio for more than 50 years and coached the tennis team. He retired in the 1980s, but continued to fill in for his colleagues for many years.

Dennis Quinn

Dennis Quinn, 82, died March 15. Quinn was a professor of English. Survivors include two daughters. The family suggests memorials to the Sanca Maria School in Eudora, to St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center or to Clear Creek Monastery in Hulbert, Okla., sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
