Harold N. Fakhoury

Harold N. Fakhoury, 83, died Dec. 14. A native of Egypt, Fakhoury was a glassblower for the chemistry department for many years, until he retired in 1995. Survivors include a brother, sister-in-law, three nephews; great-nephews; and a great-niece.

Lorraine Hammer

Lorraine Hammer, 86, died Dec. 21. She worked in the physiology and cell biology department for 31 years. Survivors include two sons, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.

James K. Hitt

James K. Hitt, 96, died Jan. 14. Hitt was the KU registrar, serving at the university from 1940 to 1977. During his tenure, Hitt was president of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars. Memorial services are pending.

Deane Roberts

Deane Roberts, 79, died Dec. 27. She worked as a keyboard operator until she retired in 1996. Survivors include two sons, one daughter-in-law, one brother, one sister, one sister-in-law, nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Memorials in her name to Kansas Cancer Institute may be sent in care Warren-McElwain Mortuary 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.

Evelyn Schmidtberger

Evelyn Schmidtberger, 59, died Jan. 10. She was a senior administrative associate at the School of Business. Survivors include her husband, Gary; two daughters and four grandchildren.

Dolora Wilson

Dolora Wilson, 58, died Dec. 22. She worked at Watkins Hospital in the medical records department. Survivors include her husband, Robert; her mother; three daughters; two sons; one brother; one sister and eight grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Ninth Street Baptist Church or Lawrence Memorial Hospital-Palliative Care, sent in care of Warren-McElwain mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
