Whitney Baker, conservator, KU Libraries, and colleague Liz Dube of Notre Dame Libraries, were honored with the "Best of LRTS" award for the top article of the year in the journal Library Resources & Technical Services. Their paper, "Identifying Standard Practices in Research Library Book Conservation," may be viewed in KU ScholarWorks. Baker and Dube will be honored at the American Library Association meeting in June in New Orleans.

Tien Lee’s paper, "The Effects of Media Usage and Interpersonal Contacts on the Stereotyping of Lesbians and Gay Men in China," co-authored by graduate student Jiawei Tu, has been accepted for presentation at the 2011 International Communication Association conference in Boston. Lee is an associate professor of journalism.

Harold Orel, Distinguished Professor of English Emeritus, has published “The Dynasts: Hardy’s Contribution to the Epic Tradition” in the Ashgate Companion to Thomas Hardy.

Susanne Shaw, professor of journalism, participated in an international external review Dec. 14 - 20 for the School of Journalism and Communication at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

Joseph Harrington, director of graduate studies in English, has published “Things Come On’ in the collection Wesleyan Poetry.
