E-WASTE NOT, E WANT NOT: Technology is constantly evolving, making yesterday’s electronic hardware obsolete at a rapid pace. When upgrading equipment, employees should remember there is a proper method for disposing of electronics. The procedures are spelled out on Information Technology’s website dedicated to e waste recycling, technology.ku.edu/ewaste/. The site includes information on what items are recyclable, details how offices can get their old equipment recycled and includes a list of disposal costs, which most of the time are nothing. There are also links to contact someone to collect e-waste, policies on handling data classification and data disposal and more.
