LOVE THE REVOLUTION: Allan Pasco, the Hall Professor of Nineteenth Century Literature, uses history, sociology, psychology and literature as points of reference to examine changes in the ideals of love in his new book “Revolutionary Lover in Eighteenth- and Early Nineteenth-Century France.” Pasco explores the changes that took place during the Enlightenment in regard to how the emotion of love was viewed. The change was radical, though gradual, as he points out through works by authors such as Marivaux, Marmontel, Rousseau, Baculard d’Arnaud, Pigault-Librun and Madame de Staël.
