MUSICAL DICTIONARY: Paul Laird, professor of musicology, and colleague William Everett of the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music, have collected information on all things musical from producer Alexander Aarons to Zorba the Greek in their book “Historical Dictionary of the Broadway Musical.” The book includes a chronology of Broadway musicals from 1866 to 2006 and nearly 1,000 dictionary entries. A wealth of information on productions is included, such as number of performances, date and place of opening, credits for composer, lyricist and director, information concerning a work’s genesis and reception and an appendix of winners of the Tony Award for best musical from 1949 to 2006.
