Christopher Forth, Howard Professor of Humanities and Western Civilization, has been selected as one of the “Top Young Historians” in the United States by the History News Network. He is profiled on the HNN Web site, http://hnn.us/roundup/49.html, which recognizes him for his studies on the cultural history of gender, sexuality and the body and on European intellectual history.
Megan Kaminski, lecturer in English, will spend two weeks in Vilnius, Lithuania, this summer courtesy of the Summer Literary Seminar program. She was a finalist in the seminar’s fiction and poetry contest, but did not win. Even so, the judging committee awarded her with a fellowship to study with other highly regarded contemporary poets.
Amy Devitt, professor of English, has been selected by the department’s graduate students to be honored at the annual Celebration of Teaching Reception May 6. The annual honor is sponsored by the Center for Teaching Excellence.
Pam Fine, professor of journalism, moderated a town hall meeting on journalism ethics and credibility May 2 at the History Museum in St. Louis. The program was part of the Society of Professional Journalists; ethics week and one of a dozen town hall meetings conducted in cities nationwide.
Scott Reinardy, assistant professor of journalism, was a panelist during the Broadcast Education Association conference April 24 in Las Vegas. He discussed "Learning by Doing in a Multimedia Newsroom" on the panel "Convergence in Journalism Education: The Challenges and Opportunities."
