Started at KU: 2000.
Daniel Mueller
Current title: Academic adviser in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and academic program team manager at the Edwards Campus.
What that means: As an adviser, Mueller works with about 180 degree-seeking non-traditional students, helping them select appropriate coursework and tracking their progress. He stays in touch with students who have to step away from school for periods of time to help ensure that they will come back and complete their degrees.
In his Edwards Campus role, he provides leadership by drafting agendas and summarizing enrollment data for the College and the professional schools.
Notable: Mueller is an excellent recruiter for molecular biosciences and other College undergraduate programs. He regularly visits area community colleges and plays a key role in assisting the Edwards Campus recruitment and public relations departments on marketing efforts targeted at undergraduates. His insight as an adviser and his detailed understanding of the reasons students return to school helped those offices refine their approaches as they launched the Start2Finish and Summer at KU in KC programs, resulting in more effective campaigns.
Quotable: “From the standpoint of a faculty adviser, he is a wonderful colleague to work with. He brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the task of helping us recruit new students and serves as the ‘eyes and ears’ for us, which ultimately helps us provide them with a better education,” said Kelly LeRoux, assistant professor of public administration.
