Area leaders to discuss preparing for business success
African-American History month to focus on succeeding in business
Five area business leaders and a KU doctoral student in business will address strategies for success during a panel discussion, "Entrepreneurship: The Future Is Now," at 7 p.m. Feb. 9 in the Kansas Union's Alderson Auditorium.
"The theme of African-American History Month this year - `African Americans in Business: A Path Toward Empowerment' - focuses on succeeding in business," said Julius Williams, assistant director of KU's Office of Minority Affairs.
"Our students wanted to invite business representatives of African-American heritage to campus to talk about their strategies for succeeding in business.
"We have invited two panels of local business people to come to campus and discuss preparing for success," he said.
The first panel on Feb. 9 will focus on how to set goals now, and the second on Feb. 26 will look at what to expect in the next century," Williams said.
Panelists on Feb. 9 include
- Verneda Bachus Robinson, president, V. Robinson & Company Inc., Management Consultants, Kansas City, Mo.
- Carl Boyd, president, Art of Positive Teaching Inc., Kansas City, Mo.
- Myron D, radio music director, KPRS (HOT 103 JAMS), Kansas City, Mo.
