Tom A. Angelo, nationally recognized for his work on creating learning communities in higher education, will speak Feb. 27 in the Big 12 Room, Kansas Union.
Angelo is an associate professor and coordinator of the Higher Education Program at the University of Miami.
He has presented more than 150 workshops and 50 keynote speeches on creating learning communities, assessment, the application of research to improve teaching and learning, and faculty development and evaluation. Angelo will conduct three sessions, all in the Big 12 Room, Kansas Union:
This general session will include a discussion of seven macro-level shifts occurring in higher education that could help develop true learning communities. Seven levers that faculty and administrators can use to move campuses in this direction.
This workshop will include defining "classroom assessment," learning how it works and determining how it can help students become more independent, effective learners.
