A memorial fund for Shelly Miller, bibliographer for Spain, Portugal and Latin American Studies at the KU libraries from 1989 until her death in 1994, has been established at the KU Endowment Association.
Income from the fund will be used to support the preservation of valuable research material in the KU libraries' collections relating to Latin America, Spain and Portugal.
Bill Carswell, associate professor of architecture and urban design, has been appointed the Cass Gilbert visiting professor of architecture at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, during the spring 1997 semester. He will continue to teach full time at KU and will make several trips to Minneapolis to take part in faculty seminars and participate in design reviews.
Marilyn Stokstad, Judith Harris Murphy professor of history of art, in December spoke to art faculty and students at Johnson County Community College on the challenge of writing an art history survey for the 21st century.
The school's department, with about 300 students, is using her new book, Art History, in its classes.
Christopher Moore, assistant professor of music and dance, was chosen as one of 10 Kansas performers and ensembles appointed to the roster of quality performing artists available through the Kansas Touring Program for the 1997-98 season. The selection was made by the Kansas Arts Commission.
