University officials, students and members of the Sabatini family turn a few shovels of dirt May 8 to symbolize the beginning of construction of the Sabatini Multicultural Resource Center. The $2.7 million, 7,000-square-foot facility will be built on the north side of the Kansas Union and promote an educational environment that recognizes and celebrates the diversity of the KU community.
