Outstanding students to carry banners

KU students who have excelled academically have been selected to carry banners for KU's 13 schools and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences during commencement ceremonies May 21.

As banner carriers, the students will lead their school groups in the traditional processional march down Mount Oread into Memorial Stadium at 2:30 p.m. May 21 for KU's 134th commencement.

In turn, banner bearers will join university officials on the platform as candidates from each school for the ceremonial conferring of degrees.

The students' names, major in school and schools they represent are listed below:

  • Kimberly Hadley, senior in respiratory care, School of Allied Health.
  • Sue Cliff, master's degree student in social work, School of Social Welfare.
  • Tricia Masenthin, senior in journalism (news and information), School of Journalism and Mass Communications.

  • Mary Walker, doctoral student in law, School of Law.
  • Scott Cady, doctoral student in pharmacy, School of Pharmacy.

  • David Hout, doctoral student in cell biology and anatomy, Graduate School.
