Roger Shimomura, distinguished professor of performance and painting, is currently having his artwork, "Nikkei Story" displayed at Flomenhaft Gallery in New York, N.Y., until March 18. "Three Suites on the Internment of Roger Shimomura" is also being displayed at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art in Augusta, Ga., until March 17.
Elissa Armstrong, assistant professor of ceramics, will contribute artwork to "Crossing Over: Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture and Techno-Science," an exhibition at the Salina Art Center running from Feb. 18 to May 14. She discussed her work at the gallery's opening reception on Feb. 17.
Joann Keyton, professor of communication studies, was named associate editor of Small Group Research, an interdisciplinary journal.
Tamara Falicov, associate professor of film, judged documentaries, animation and short films as part of a panel for the 14th Costa Rican Film and Video Exhibition from Nov. 17-24. She also presented a paper at the University of Hawaii-Manoa in Honolulu, Hawaii, on Latin American cinema.
William Woods, professor of geography, moderated the symposium "Sustainability and Resource Management, Amazonian Dark Earths: New Discoveries" Feb. 18. The symposium covered the topic of agriculture in ancient Amazonian societies and providing a model for use of similar land to sustain food production in lowland tropical environments.
