New, 1,500 space parking lot approved for west campus
A new 1,500-space, $10.5 million parking lot has been approved for KU.
The State Finance Council, which includes Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and legislative leaders, voted to allow the issue of bonds to pay for the new lot.
The lot will be a "park and ride" facility located on west campus. The estimated $10.5 million cost includes construction of the lot, lighting, associated access roads, improvements to intersections with city streets and water retention. The bonds will be repaid with parking fees. It is expected to be completed by fall semester 2006.
