Edwards prof wins award for Iraq work
Charles W. “Chick” Keller, assistant professor of engineering
management at KU’s Edwards Campus, recently received the Joint Civilian
Service Commendation Award from the Secretary of the Army for his work in Iraq
from May through November 2004.
During his time overseas, Keller oversaw a $12 billion construction
effort to rebuild critical Iraqi infrastructure under combat conditions.
As deputy
director of the Programs, Project and Contracting Office in Baghdad, Keller
directed electrical, water, education, oil and public building projects.
In presenting the award, Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long said the projects
represent the largest infrastructure rebuilding since World War II.
