Alex WestonUnclassified employee of the monthStarted at KU: 1988. Current title: Stage manager, theater and film. What that means: Weston is in charge of all lighting, rigging and sound for the University Theatre. He supervises all the lighting designs for the Theatre, advises faculty, student, and guest designers, and supervises all technical assistants in the Lighting Production Laboratory. In addition, he supervises the rigging of scenery, maintains equipment, oversees the lighting and sound administration budget and devises and implements sound reinforcement schemes for all productions. Notable: Weston completely renovated the antiquated sound and lighting systems in the Crafton-Preyer and Inge Theatres to a state-of-the-art computerized system that is organized for quick access and connectivity. He designed a console so stage managers have light and sound control right at their fingertips.
Gina KingUniversity Support StaffStarted at KU: 2003. Current title: Senior administrative specialist, graduate school and international programs. What that means: King is in charge of the PeopleSoft and CollegeNet systems in GPAC, and her position responsibilities grow as the office implements new options or ideas in working with the programs. She also interacts on a daily basis with staff members who are involved with the graduate admissions process on the Lawrence and Edwards campuses. Notable: King has worked on the new online graduate application and inquiry forms to make sure that each is updated appropriately and has made several revisions of both forms to better meet the needs of departments. She has been working with the KU Medical Center to obtain appropriate admissions information so that KUMC will have an online graduate application process.
