Jean Young
Jean Young, 71, died July 26 in Fort Collins, Colo. She worked at the snack bar in the Visual Arts Building and retired in 2004. Survivors include a son, Dennis Rick Young, Fort Collins; a daughter, Debra Elizabeth Bray, Loveland, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the KU Athletic Fund, the American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society, sent to Warren-McElwain Mortuary.


James Russell Neff

James Russell Neff, 65, died July 12 in Omaha. He was an orthopedic surgeon and from 1983 to 1991 was professor of surgery and pathology at the Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Julia Bridge; a son, Gregory Ryan Neff, Overland Park, Kan.; a stepson, Robert Stuart Bridge, Omaha; two daughters, Kirsten Kjerste Gannon, Leawood, Kan., and Rachael Elizabeth Neff, Omaha. The family suggests memorials to Dr. James R. Neff Memorial Cancer Fund, University of Nebraska Foundation, 8712 W. Dodge Road, Suite 100, Omaha, NE 68114.


Harold Joseph
McNamara

Harold Joseph McNamara, 76, died July 24 in Wichita. He was a KU lecturer in psychology from 1962 to 1964. Survivors include his wife, Coleta, of the home; two sons; a daughter; and six grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Center of Hope, 400 N. Emporia, Wichita, KS 67202; or Holy Savior Catholic School, 1425 N. Chautauqua St., Wichita, KS 67214.


George Arthur Rasmussen
George Arthur Rasmussen, 78, died Aug. 10 in Durham, N.C. He was a KU professor of journalism from 1979 through 1986. Survivors includes his wife, Janet Burdick Rasmussen, of the home, Hillsborough, N.C.; two sons, Neil, Lawrence, and Mark, Middletown, R.I.; a daughter, Charlotte Thies, Marshfield, Mass.; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, Eastern North Carolina Chapter, 400 Oberlin Road, Suite 220, Raleigh, NC 27605.
