Women’s program fetes Gov. Sebelius

Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius received the 2005 Pioneer award and was the keynote speaker at the annual Women’s Recognition Program April 21.

Sebelius joined 13 more Kansas women being honored with annual awards, including four who were inducted into the KU Women’s Hall of Fame.

In all, female KU students, staff, faculty and alumnae will be recognized in 11 categories for their contributions and achievements.

The Pioneer Award is presented for historic contributions of local or statewide significance.

The KU Women’s Hall of Fame has been inducting women since 1970.

KU’s Commission on the Status of Women and the Emily Taylor Women’s Resource Center sponsor the Women’s Recognition Program.
