KU Recycling to test collection expansion

KU Recycling will be offering drop-off recycling services for students, faculty and staff April 22 and May 6 to gauge interest in expanded collections proposed for next fall.

Recycling trailers will be parked south of the Student Recreation Fitness Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Free parking will be available, and staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions.

Last spring KU students voted to increase the Environmental Improvement Fee to fund universitywide recycling programs, including weekly or bi-weekly collections on campus.

For information about other materials or recycling services at KU, please visit the Environmental Stewardship Program Web site or contact KU Recycling at kurecycling@ku.edu.

On-campus recycling collection

• #2 plastic bottles
• aluminum cans
• steel (tin) cans
• glass bottles (clear, brown or green bottles only)

All containers should be rinsed clean and can be separated into plastic bags or sorted on site. Paper, newspaper and cardboard should be separated and deposited loose into the trailers.
