Sadie E. Bramble


Sadie E. Bramble, 90, Lawrence, died April 2. She worked in the cataloging department of Watson Library at KU from 1969 until she retired in 1994. Survivors include two sons, Fred, Tulsa, Okla., and John, Leavenworth; two daughters, Ruth Humphrey, Wichita, and Mary Brodahl, Bellvue, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church or Hospice Care in Douglas County.


Eugenia Zhenya Marie Felton


Eugenia Zhenya Marie Felton, 97, Lawrence, died March 26. Felton was a Russian language translator in the Slavic languages department for more than 35 years. Survivors include a son, Eric, Lawrence; a daughter, Tamara Kallas, England; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society or Midland Hospice.


Robert L. “Bob” Gernon


Robert L. “Bob” Gernon, 61, Lawrence, died March 30. He was a trial advocacy instructor at KU School of Law and a Kansas Supreme Court justice. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Gernon Wilson, Natick, Mass., and Kristin Gernon, New York; a grandson; and former wife Sharon Gernon, Lawrence. The family suggests memorials to St. Lawrence Catholic Campus Center or the Justice Robert L. Gernon Legal Scholarship Fund.


Clarence E. “Poppie” Knapp


Clarence E. “Poppie” Knapp, 93, Lawrence died April 5. He started work as a foreman for the power plant at KU in 1956 and retired as a supervisor in 1976. Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Howard, Lawrence; a brother, Albert “Jr.,” Basehor; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care in Douglas County.


Rachel E. Blurton Marion


Rachel E. Blurton Marion, 66, Lawrence, died March 30. During her career she worked in Ellsworth Hall. Survivors include three sisters, Dolly Reed, Lawrence; Aldra Blurton, Kansas City, Kan.; and Gayla Horry, Meridianville, Ala. The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association.


Hugh D. Riordan


Hugh D. Riordan, 72, died Jan. 7. He was a clinical assistant professor of preventive medicine at the KU Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Jan; six children; and 11 grandchildren.
