Simons family establishes new Hall fellowship
A Lawrence newspaper family has provided funds to create a new fellowship
at the Hall Center for the Humanities.
Dolph C. Simons Jr., editor of the Lawrence Journal-World and chairman
of the World Company, and his wife, Pam C. Simons, provided funds to the
Kansas University Endowment Association to establish the Simons Distinguished
Citizen Fellowship.
The purpose of the annual fellowship is to bring to campus for a semester
an individual interested in the humanities from a field such as health
care, politics, journalism or the arts to study the area of their choice
and participate in Hall Center events.
Applications for the first fellowship will be accepted until Jan. 31,
2005. The first fellow will be chosen for the 2005-06 academic year. For
