Bruce Lamont Hood
Bruce Lamont Hood, 68, died Aug. 18 at Haskell County Hospital in Stigler,
Okla. Hood received his doctoral degree in education at KU and was an
assistant instructor in the late 1950s and 1960s. He left KU in 1966 as
an associate professor. Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey L. Hood of
Galt, Calif., and James Bradley Hood of Homer, Alaska; a daughter, Susan
Rae Hood of Hartford, Conn.; and grandsons Jacob and Aaron Hood of Galt,
Calif.
Yvonne J. Mellenbruch
Yvonne J. Mellenbruch, 74, Lawrence, died Aug. 19. She worked as a telephone
operator for KU for 34 years, beginning in 1959. Survivors include three
sons, Donald Jr., Lawrence; Charlie, Overland Park; and Duane, Lawrence;
and 10 grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to First Southern
Baptist Church playground fund, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
