Inside information: Former KU chancellor Gene A. Budig has recently published The Inside Pitch ... and More: Baseball’s Business and the Public Trust.

It examines the major issues facing baseball today, including the length of games, the labor disputes of 2002, the dilemma of Pete Rose and what the growth of baseball outside the United States will mean for the game.

Budig, who was president of the American League from 1994 to 2000, uses his experience to explain many business-oriented parts of baseball, including the process of getting a new ballpark built, while offering a unique perspective for both fans and insiders.
