Education specialist joins KUSM-W staff

Alan Blakely, former educational programs specialist in the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis, has been selected to be the education specialist at the KU School of Medicine-Wichita.


In this newly created position, he will provide leadership in the design and implementing of educational programs that focus on core competencies.


Blakely holds a doctorate in science education from UC-Davis. He formerly taught chemistry at Napa Valley College and American River College as well as at UC-Davis.


Oklahoma taps Parsons director of media services


Steve Mills, director of the Media Laboratory at the Parsons site of KU’s Life Span Institute, has accepted a new position as the director and CEO of the University and College Center of Ardmore, Okla.


Known as the Ardmore Higher Education Center, the program administers classes from East Central University, Murray State College (a community college), Southeastern Oklahoma State University and Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City.


University Press hires production editor


Susan McRory, formerly of ABC-CLIO/Books Division, was hired as Senior Production Editor at the University Press of Kansas in August. She previously worked as senior production editor at University Press from 1985 to 1994.
