KU campaign nearing goal
For those who wonder exactly how big a donation must be to make a difference,
the organizers of the 2004 United Way campaign at KU have an easy answer:
A dollar goes a long way.

The Douglas County United Way committee has launched a campaign highlighting
the effect that donating a dollar a week to the United Way can have on
organizations.
United Way “dollar bills” were distributed with a list of
twenty ways that a pledge of $1 a week could greatly assist organizations
in the Lawrence area.
As of Oct. 29, the KU campaign has raised $179,124 from 488 donor. This
year’s goal is $230,000 from 700 donors. To obtain a pledge card
contact University Relations at 864-3256 or email kurelations@ku.edu.

A dollar a week will provide:
• The cost of summer day camp for a Girl Scout or Cub Scout
• Two months of Carelink service
• One home health aide visit to a Hospice patient
• One month of three meals a day for a child at Ballard Community Center
