Professors to receive teaching awards

Six KU faculty members will receive distinguished teaching awards for
the 2003-04 academic year during commencement ceremonies.
Faculty from the KU Medical Center campuses in Kansas City and Wichita
will be honored with the Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Classroom
Teaching. This year’s winners are Pamela K.
Shaw, associate professor of pediatrics; Cynthia
S. Teel, associate professor of nursing; and
Douglas E. Wright, assistant professor of anatomy and cell biology.
Adrianne Kunkel, assistant professor of communication
studies, will receive the Silver Anniversary Award, provided by the 25-year
alumni class.
Norman Slade, professor of ecology and evolutionary
biology, will receive the Archie and Nancy Dykes Award, which honors faculty
members for undergraduate teaching and mentoring. Former Chancellor Dykes
and his wife established the award in 1990.
The Ned N. Fleming Trust Award for distinguished teaching, scholarship
and service will be awarded to Shirley Hill,
professor of sociology.
