Pulitzer Prize-winning KU grad gives lecture, visits students

KU graduate Kevin Helliker, Chicago bureau chief for the Wall Street
Journal and 2004 Pulitzer Prize winner for explanatory journalism, visited
KU’s School of Journalism last month and made a public speech Nov.
29 about aortic aneurysms, the subject of his Pulitzer Prize-winning
series.
He co-wrote the series with fellow Wall Street Journal reporter Thomas
M. Burton.
While at KU, Helliker met with journalism students and faculty and discussed
the important role journalists play in disseminating life-saving medical
information.
Helliker is a Kansas City, Kan., native who earned a bachelor’s
degree in English literature from KU in 1982. He took several classes
from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications while he was at
KU.
