Women of Distinction

KU calendar will highlight achievements

The Emily Taylor Women’s Resource Center will promote the accomplishments of KU women with a new kind of calendar that will come out next year.

“KU Women of Distinction” will feature images of staff, faculty and students in the environments in which they are successful.

“Our goal is to highlight the accomplishments and amazing women associated with our campus,” said Kathy Rose-Mockry, director of the center. “We hope to present women who have made contributions to the campus and community.”
The calendar will be a one-page poster with multiple images.

Rose-Mockry said response to the calendar idea had been overwhelming.

However, she said participants couldn’t be identified because the selection hasn’t yet been finalized. The project will use a photographer with ties to KU.

Although her office received many nominations, Rose-Mockry said the calendar would be able to feature only a small percentage of those deserving a space.
“We have enough material to produce this calendar for a number of years,” she said. “There are so many amazing women associated with our campus.”

The calendar, which will be free this year, is slated for distribution in January.

Donations to defray production costs are being accepted. For more information about the calendar or to make a contribution, call Rose-Mockry at 864-3552.
