Zelma Bowman
Zelma Bowman, 75, Lawrence, died April 29 at her home. She worked as a custodial specialist at KU from 1991 until her death. Survivors include three sons, Michael and Roger L., both of Lawrence, and Omer A. Jr., Overland Park; two daughters, Janice U. Casto, Meriden, and Cathy M. Currant, Lawrence; three sisters, Thelma Wooster, Delores Landis and Minnie Hooten, all of Vancouver, Wash.; and seven grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Nellie Humphrey
Nellie Humphrey, 73, Ottawa, died April 10 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. She formerly worked in housekeeping at KU. Survivors include her husband, Jerald; a son, Jerald Jr., Lexington Park, Md.; three daughters, Tina Iden, Lawrence, Laura Atchison, Baldwin, and Sandra Humphrey, Ottawa; a brother, Joe Vasquez, Osawatomie; two sisters, Toni Carter, Minneapolis, Minn., and Delphina Esquivel, Monrovia, Calif.; and six grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to St. Philip Neri Church, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 430, Osawatomie, KS 66064.


Alfreda Iola Foster Kapfer
Alfreda Iola Foster Kapfer, 86, Lawrence, died May 3 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She worked in food service at KU until she retired in January 1978. Survivors include her husband, Charles; a daughter, Carolyn Stauffer, Lawrence; a son, Ron Marvin Foster, Lawrence; two brothers, Cecil Miller, Lawrence, and Eldon Miller, Ozawkie; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.


Eula M. Self
Eula M. Self, 88, Lawrence, died April 8 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She worked for Kansas Union Food Services until her retirement. Survivors include a son, Ronald K., Lincoln, Neb.; a daughter, Rhonda Young, Lawrence; six brothers, O.C. Funderburg, Charleston, S.C., James Funderburg, Midwest City, Okla., Bennie Funderburg, Enid, Okla., Jack Funderburg, Hennessey, Okla., Charles Funderburg, McAlester, Okla., and Stanley Funderburg, Oklahoma City; a sister, Norma Jean Major, McAlester; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
