Employees of the year honored at ceremony

Chancellor Robert Hemenway and Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor David Shulenburger presented employee of the year awards to Mary Acher, administrative specialist, and Jonathan Glauner, computer programmer, during the 29th annual Employee Recognition Ceremony on April 30. R. Steve Dick/University Relations

Administrative specialist Mary Acher and computer programmer Jonathan Glauner were named 2003 employees of the year at the 29th annual Employee Recognition Ceremony on April 30.

Employees of the year are selected from 24 candidates who have won employee of the month recognition during the preceding year.

Acher, who was named classified employee of the month in October 2002, joined International Student and Scholar Services in 1998 and now serves as the office manager in that department. She is responsible for budgetary matters, and she processes registration for international student orientation.

Glauner, who earned employee of the month in April 2003, began working at KU in 1996 as a student employee and was promoted several times before reaching his current position. He is known as the “guru” of the Student Administration PeopleSoft Project, where he has been responsible for converting the student records information system to the new program.
