Outstanding grads to carry banners

University of Kansas seniors and graduate students who have excelled academically will carry banners for KU’s 13 schools and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences during commencement ceremonies May 18.
As banner carriers, the students will lead their school groups in the traditional march down Mount Oread at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18, for KU’s 131st commencement ceremonies in Memorial Stadium.


Banner bearers will join university officials on the platform as candidates from each school stand for the conferring of degrees.
The students’ names, degrees and the schools they represent are:


Tamra Arnold, senior in pharmacy, School of Pharmacy
Lindsey Burch, senior in elementary education, School of Education
Matthew Foster, fourth-year student in medicine, School of Medicine
David Harold, senior in business administration and mechanical engineering, School of Engineering
Ammie Jones, master’s degree student in social work, School of Social Welfare
Julie Mealiff, senior in piano, School of Fine Arts
Katie Rose Mitchell-Koch, senior in chemistry, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Amy Myers, senior in clinical laboratory science, School of Allied Health
Camila Querasian, senior in architecture, School of Architecture and Urban Design
Jelica Ristic, master’s degree student in business, School of Business
Kara Ryckman, senior in strategic communications, School of Journalism and Mass Communications
Jamison Shipman, third year law student and candidate for juris doctor, School of Law
Andreas GIlle, doctoral student in pharmacology and toxicology, Graduate School
