NASCAR driver Casey Mears, nephew of four-time Indy 500 champion Rick Mears, reveals the new look for his Phillips 66 Dodge Intrepid – a crimson-and-blue paint scheme with plenty of Jayhawks – that he will drive in the Sept. 28 NASCAR Busch Series Mr. Goodcents 300 race at the Kansas Speedway. The car was unveiled at a ceremony on campus Monday. Powered by nearly 700 horsepower, the No. 66 Intrepid can exceed 180 mph. Souvenir T-shirts and hats are on sale at the KU Bookstores and www.jayhawks.com. A scale model of the Jayhawk racing car will go on sale next week. KU Med is the speedway’s official medical provider.
