Liberal Arts candidates scheduled for KU visit


The second and third candidates in the search for a College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean will be in Lawrence next week for open forums.

John Lipski, head of the Spanish, Italian and Portuguese department at Penn State University, was the second candidate announced by the provost’s office. Lipski will be on the KU campus on Monday to participate in an open forum from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Alderson Auditorium at the Kansas Union.

Kim Wilcox, president and CEO of the Kansas Board of Regents, was announced as a candidate on Wednesday. Wilcox will meet with students, staff and faculty during a forum from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Thursday in Alderson.

The first candidate, Kip V. Hodges, visited campus Feb. 18.

Lipski received his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Alberta. He has held faculty positions at five institutions across the country.

Wilcox earned degrees from Michigan State and Purdue universitites and now oversees a regents system that serves more than 150,000 students.

A final candudate in the dean search will be announced on Friday. That applicant’s open forum will be in Alderson Auditorium from 3:30 to 5 p.m.on March 11.
