United Way chooses Amblers for campaign
Vice chancellor David Ambler and his wife, Mary Kate, have been appointed to chair the 2002-2003 United Way campaign. The campaign will kick-off in September.
KU’s vice chancellor of student affairs will take on some off-campus duties this year as he and his wife chair the 2002-2003 United Way campaign.
David and Mary Kate Ambler were appointed last week by Connie Sollars, president-elect of the United Way board of directors. The Amblers will kick off their campaign with September’s Day of Caring.
In addition to his duties with KU, Ambler has been active in community activities including previous service on the United Way board of directors, the Holcomb Recreation Center Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Mary Kate Ambler is a community volunteer who has served on the CASA board of directors, the Lawrence Arts Commission and the Arts Center board.
Sollars said the Amblers would make a wonderful team to lead the organization.
“Their commitment to the community is deep and strong,” she said.
The Amblers are the second couple to lead the drive. Sollars and her husband, Gary, led the drive two years ago.
United Way will begin its process to determine agency allocations on March 22 and should complete the process in early May. After community volunteers review agency programs and budgets, a campaign goal will be set. United Way expects to announce the goal in early June
