Regents to vote on tuition proposal at June meeting

The Kansas State Board of Regents is scheduled to make a final decision on tuition proposals during its meeting scheduled for June 26-27 in Topeka.
The proposals were made to the board in May by regents’ institutions across the state.
The proposal made by KU included a $300 increase per semester in tuition and fees for a Kansas resident taking 15 hours of credit. The non-resident increase will be $438 per semester for 15 hours.
The proposal also included provisions for a $2.2 million increase in “tuition grants,” which will more than double current state-funded, need-based financial aid.
The tuition increase will fund improved teaching facilities, additional faculty, stronger minority recruitment and retention, expanded library services, expedited introduction of online registration, increased operating expense budgets for academic departments, larger stipends for graduate assistants and additional support staff for student services.
