Computing Services announces changes
Academic Computing Services is planning a major upgrade of the universitys Exchange servers this summer. Users will need to make at least one change to the settings on their email program after the upgrade. Exchange users will receive information via email. Visit www.ku.edu/exchange/2002 for details.
Parking lot open hours expanded
Effective Aug. 1, all but 10 spaces of Lot 41 will be open to the public after 5 p.m. After Aug. 1, only 10 spaces will continue to be restricted. These spaces will be signed individually, stating the hours of restriction. On evenings of home basketball games, the lot will be restricted to faculty and staff permits.
KU honors three engineers with university ties
The KU School of Engineering and its advisory board last month honored two alumni and the current dean for careers for their professional achievement. Gregs G. Thomopulos of Iowa City, Iowa; Robert A. Kleist of Newport Beach, Calif.; and Dean Carl E. Locke Jr. received the Distinguished Engineering Service Award. Campaign moves into new phase
KU First: Invest in Excellence, the $500 million fund-raising campaign for the University of Kansas, has moved into the major gifts phase with more than $337 million raised so far. During this part of the campaign, volunteer campaign committees representing KUs schools and major divisions are established. These committees are designed to raise gifts of $100,000 or more to benefit each major constituent area. Composed of KU alumni and interested friends, each committee meets to set fund-raising goals and objectives and to help identify donors for their school or division. More than 20 committees will be formed by the end of 2002.
10 appointed to KU Med board
Gov. Bill Graves announced 10 appointments to the KU Hospital Authority Board of Directors that were approved by the state Senate in May. Newly appointed to the board were Betty Keim, Mission Hills; Mark Parkinson, Shawnee; and William Zollars, Leawood. Reappointed were Edward Nazar, Wichita; Edward Chapman, Leavenworth; George Farha, Wichita; Clay Edmonds, Salina; Robert Honse, Lawrence; Charles Sunderlund, Overland Park; and Eric Jager, Mission Hills.
School seeks comments
The KU School of Nursing is seeking accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and will be site-visited Oct. 7-9. The school invites comments about its educational programs, students and graduates to be sent to CCNE. The letters will be confidential.
