Outstanding students to carry banners


KU seniors and graduate students who have excelled academically will carry banners for KU’s 13 schools and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences during May 20 commencement ceremonies.

The students will lead their schools in the traditional march down Mount Oread at 2:30 p.m. for KU’s 129th commencement and will join university officials on the platform as candidates from each school stand together for the ceremonial conferring of degrees.

The students’ names, their degrees, and the schools they represent are:
• Mark Bradshaw, bachelor of arts in American studies, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

• Jiyeon Park, doctor of philosophy in special education, Graduate School and International Programs

• Brandyn Marie Beatson, bachelor of science in occupational therapy, School of Allied Health

• Jessica Bristow, master of architecture, School of Architecture and Urban Design

• Maria Bugenhagen, bachelor of science in business, School of Business

• Jana Ross, bachelor of science in sport education, School of Education

• Stephanie Sprague, bachelor of science in aerospace engineering, School of Engineering

• Margaret Schramm, bachelor of art education, School of Fine Arts

• Jeanine McCarragher, bachelor of science in journalism, School of Journalism

• Chris Sherman, juris doctor, School of Law

• Julie Welch, doctor of medicine, School of Medicine

• Talena Rachelle Ardery, bachelor of science in nursing, School of Nursing

• Michelle Rockey, doctor of pharmacy, School of Pharmacy

• Lisa Barton, master of social welfare, School of Social Welfare
