A deadline has been set for the federal research funding award program for the NIH COBRE (Center Of Biomedical Research Excellence) First Award grants. The deadline for Letters of Intent is Sept. 17, 2001, and the deadline for applications for the First Award grants is Oct. 16, 2001. COBRE First Awards are designed to help tenure track faculty attain competitive funding early in their career. Tenure track faculty members who have not served as a principal investigator on a federal agency research grant and who are in their first three years of a tenure track appointment are eligible to receive up to $100,000 for two years. Research related to cancer, which falls primarily under the umbrella of the National Cancer Institute of the NIH and the Center for Cancer Experimental Therapeutics, will be considered for COBRE First Awards. For more information, see www2.kumc.edu/etp/cobre.htm or contact COBRE principal investigator Dr. Gunda Georg at 864-4498 or by e-mail: georg@ku.edu. |
