Minority grads to be honored
The Office of Multicultural Affairs is planning its 24th annual
graduation banquet.
The event, from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 20, in the Kansas Union
ballroom, celebrates the graduation of more than 100 minority
students.

Be an ambassador for KU
The Office of University Relations is looking for volunteers
to help with KU's efforts Sept. 8 to 17 at the Kansas State Fair
in Hutchinson. Volunteers will greet passersby, answer questions
about the university and hand out information.
University Relations will reimburse volunteers for their lodging,
admission and parking.
The state fair is one of the largest single events in Kansas
with almost 500,000 people attending annually.

Dinner to honor retiring staff, faculty
KU will honor 50 unclassified staff and faculty members at a
dinner hosted by Chancellor Robert E. Hemenway and Provost David
Shulenburger at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, in the Kansas Union
ballroom.
A reception hosted by the Retirees' Club will precede the dinner.
Reservations may be made with Bev Mater, 230 Strong Hall, until
5 p.m. Monday, May 15.
Retirement planning sessions set
Two retirement-planning sessions have been scheduled for KU faculty
and staff in May.
Sessions will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, and 9:30 a.m. Thursday,
May 18, in the Pine Room of the Kansas Union.
Topics will include how to lower taxes while saving for retirement,
how to select the right investments to match goals, how to put
together a balanced portfolio and various TIAA-CREF income options.
Employees may sign up for individual appointments to consult
