Wichita dean to retire

Joseph C. Meek, dean of the KU School of Medicine-Wichita for 10 years of its 25-year history, has announced he will retire next year.

Meek will step down June 30, 2001. A committee headed by Alex Ammar, chair of the Department of Surgery in Wichita, will conduct a nationwide search for a successor.

The school is the clinical campus for the KU School of Medicine, which is part of the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan.
