KU employees honored for 40, 50 years of state service

Gov. Mark Parkinson recently honored 17 KU employees for serving the state for 40 years or more. At the ceremony, held Sept. 4 at the Kansas History Museum and Library in Topeka, the governor cited employees who have served the state for 40 and 50 years.

Fifteen employees were noted for 40 years of service. They are:

• Nobelza Asuncion-Lande, professor of communication studies

• Zamir Bavel, professor, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

• Alva Beasley, research assistant, Bureau of Child Research

• John Bricke, professor of philosophy

• David Bushouse, professor of music

• Richard Dishinger, associate professor of visual art

• Kenneth Hopkins, custodian, Facilities Operations

• Jose “Butch” Larios, senior administrative professional, Facilities Operations

• Larry Magnuson, research associate, Kansas Geological Survey

• Rex Martin, professor emeritus of philosophy

• Joan McDaniels, accountant, comptroller’s office

• Lewis Mennerick, professor emeritus of sociology

• L. Keith Miller, professor of applied behavioral science

• Donald Nieto, lab tech, physics and astronomy

• Edward Zamarripa, director of finance and administration, Bureau of Child Research
