Employee of the month

Robert R. Baldwin

September University Support Staff employee of the month

Started at KU: 1998

Current title: Electrician senior

What that means: Baldwin supervises the electrical shop apprentices, performs all types of electrical work on campus and coordinates jobs with the other crafts involved in a job or renovation.

Robert R. Baldwin

Notable: In addition to being one of the most experienced and knowledgeable electricians on staff, he is a strong leader and an excellent teacher. Baldwin takes the time to mentor less experienced electricians, and when he does he explains the reasoning behind best practices and not only the correct way to do a job.

Baldwin makes sure every electrical job, large or small, is done on time with integrity and accuracy. He willingly takes on the larger electrical jobs across campus and coordinates the timing of his responsibilities with those of the other crafts on the project. He easily and accurately moves from one job to another and has the knowledge and ability to problem solve on the spot. He has even been known to figure out that an air conditioning unit was not configured incorrectly, determine the correct configuration and fix the problem, though it wasn’t his responsibility.
