TOPONYMS:

Denver communications billionaire Phillip Anschutz, a 1961 alumnus, and his wife, Nancy, gave a $6.5 million endowed acquisitions fund for the new library that KU planned to build near the then Hoch Auditorium. In return, the library, dedicated Oct. 7, 1989, was named for his parents, Marian and Fred Anschutz, a 1933 alumnus. Fred also was chief donor for the Anschutz Sports Pavilion, which houses track, soccer, baseball and softball practice areas. For more, visit www.buildings.ku.edu.
