October Employee of the month

Pamela Shadoin, University Support Staff

Pamela Shadoin

Current title: Administrative associate senior, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

What that means: Shadoin is involved in all aspects of graduate students' academic lives, from recruiting, admissions and tracking student progress toward degree to maintaining records, filing all necessary paperwork and compiling statistics. She also acts as the departmental receptionist on an as-needed basis.

Notable: Shadoin has taken an active role in departmental efforts to recruit doctoral students, working closely with Arvin Agah, associate chair for graduate studies. She has streamlined the application and admissions process so that the department is able to handle a larger volume of applications in a shorter period of time.

As a result, she was able to process 660 applications between fall 2007 and fall 2008--more than all other engineering departments combined.

Nominations are needed for employees of the month. Fill out the form here.
