RESEARCH MATTERS:
Deforestation in Mexico could bring about the end of the 3,000-mile migration of the monarch butterfly, according to a KU researcher. "To lose something like this migration is to diminish all of us - to diminish the biodiversity on the planet. And it would be a shame to lose this particular phenomenon because it's so truly spectacular, one of the awe-inspiring phenomena that nature presents to us," said Chip Taylor, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology. "We need to understand it; we need to protect it." For more, or to listen to the original broadcast, visit
