WEB WORKS
TECHNOLOGICAL HELP: The Information Technology division of Information Services has a
new Web site, designed to provide the KU community with a refreshed gateway to IT services and resources that is user-friendly and easily navigable. The site highlights new IT services and provides a search function to enable users to find information faster. “Get Help” and “Hot Topics” tabs include drop-down menus with quick links to frequently sought information. An “I am ...” tab enables users to access information according to whether they are “New to KU,” “A KU Student,” “KU Faculty,” “KU Staff” or “Researcher.” Comments and suggestions for improving the site are welcome at
itweb@ku.edu.
NOTABLE ALUMS
Paul Keim, who earned his KU doctorate in plant biochemistry in 1981, is a world leader in the genetics of Bacillus anthracis, or anthrax. When the 2001 anthrax letter attacks that killed five occurred, the FBI turned to Keim, whose Arizona lab has the world's largest database of anthrax strains. He made a match within hours. He continues to assist the national intelligence community in the area of biological weapons and genomic analysis.
