A+ WRITING:

The KU Writing Center's Web site (http://www.writing.ku.edu) recently received an A+ rating from Education World. "This University of Kansas site offers writing support for students in the form of writing tutorials and guide sheets. Although it is designed for KU students, secondary students and teachers will find lots of useful resources," the review said. Among the site's resources for students and faculty are an informational video, "grammar guru" and online consultations.

TOPONYMS

Carruth-O'Leary Hall, which opened in 1955 as a men's residence hall, was named for two longtime faculty members and KU alumni: William H. Carruth, professor of German and an administrator; and English professor Raphael Dorman O'Leary. Since 1986 it has been home to the Department of Human Resources and Equal Opportunity and other administrative departments. Douthart Scholarship Hall previously stood on its site.
