The KU Writing Center's Web site (
http://www.writing.ku.edu) recently received an A+ rating from Education World. "This University of Kansas site offers writing support for students in the form of writing tutorials and guide sheets. Although it is designed for KU students, secondary students and teachers will find lots of useful resources," the review said. Among the site's resources for students and faculty are an informational video, "grammar guru" and online consultations.
NOTABLE ALUMS
Roseann Runte, a French scholar who earned her doctorate at KU, is the new president - and first woman executive - of Carleton University, Canada's "capital university" in Ottawa. A dual resident of the U.S. and Canada, she was previously president of Old Dominion University. She also is president of the American Council of Education's Commission on International Education and a member of the International Parliament of Cultures.
