KU MEDICAL CENTER:

The Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland has donated $60,000 to the KU Medical Center to help fund Parkinson's research and patient care. "We want to ensure that we are supporting the exciting Parkinson's research developments here at KU Medical Center," said Meg Duggan, executive director of the Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland. "It is our hope that by investing in this program at the Medical Center, we are taking the next step toward finding a cure for Parkinson's disease."

KU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE Ð WICHITA:

Shanna Williams has joined the KU Endowment Association - Wichita as a development coordinator. Williams graduated from Emporia State University where she served as a Tele-Fund caller and ESU Ambassador. Most recently she was a Leadership Assistant Intern at ESU.

EDWARDS CAMPUS:

The Brock McGuire Band, presented by the Lied Center, will present a free concert at 7 p.m. Feb. 21, at the Regnier Hall Auditorium on the Edwards Campus. NOTABLE ALUMS

Roseann Runte, a French scholar who earned her doctorate at KU, is the new president - and first woman executive - of Carleton University, Canada's "capital university" in Ottawa. A dual resident of the U.S. and Canada, she was previously president of Old Dominion University. She also is president of the American Council of Education's Commission on International Education and a member of the International Parliament of Cultures.
